Checking Stereotypes.

This idea is for you to find out what your students think stereotypes are and find out how the effect others around them.

All you need are some index cards.
  • Have students write down a stereotype on one side of a card and have them put descriptions on the back of the card.
  • Then collect the cards and shuffle them up.
  • One at a time draw a card and have students discuss how the card may make others feel as well as how it makes themselves feel.
  • Let these cards be a starting point for deeper discussion and issues of misconception in your own classroom.
